Every scene now has three models side by side: the unchanged final1.2SFT (step7,851), unchanged final1.3SFT (step9,799), and the new final1.3rank128 reinforcement-learning adapter (green border). Within each model, compare the prompt-only row with the same separate speaker-reference row. The reference is a voice input, not an expected target performance.
These are the exact35previous scene/language cases, seven each in English, German, French, Dutch and Spanish. All models receive the same spoken words, full English GENERAL/SCRIPT instructions, requested frame budget, original per-case seed and, when enabled, identical12-second reference codec arrays. Existing1.2/1.3SFT audio has not been regenerated. Each RL condition has exactly one fixed-seed take: no best-of-N, seed selection, audio trimming or time-stretching.
The RL outputs use the unchanged public deployment sampler (BF16 base, temperature1.0, top-p0.95, top-k50), with unmerged FP32 adapter residuals. RL training used full-support FP32 sampling/replay at temperature0.7. This is a matched deployed-inference comparison, not an assertion that those training and inference distributions are identical. Matching seeds do not force the same stochastic trajectory between models.
The same frozen Humaneness EARS Medium and multilingual Parakeet judge the actual128kbps MP3s in both arms. Numbers below are mean ± sample standard deviation over the35cases in each row. CE is approximately0–10 and genuineness0–6 (higher is better); ASR word error rate is lower-is-better and is not clipped to100%. All takes are included, not only successful or high-scoring ones.

These are scripted listening/development cases, not a certified held-out benchmark or human MOS test.1.2was not rescored in this pass. No reference-conditioned speaker identity score or ground-truth emotional-intensity error is claimed here. All40EARS emotion predictions are retained in the downloadable metadata; a classifier cannot establish a fictional character’s private mental state. For clips longer than the judge’s30-second context, EARS scores use balanced non-overlapping windows covering the entire MP3, with duration-weighted raw-head averages. Window-level results are retained. This avoids dropping the end of a scene, but windowed proxy scores need not equal a hypothetical whole-clip judgment. The published audio is never cut or edited.
How the new reinforcement-learning adapter was trained
The final Large1.3Alpha full-SFT model (step9,799) remains the frozen base. A new rank128 attention adapter in both the semantic backbone and local Talker was optimized using VESPO sequence importance weights with separately group-normalized reward components, a group-relative policy-gradient method. This is not the flow-matching GROW method used for the separate Voice Converter model.
For each source example, eight candidates were sampled in a reference-conditioned group and eight in a separate no-reference group. Both groups use the same source utterance and are accepted or rejected together. Training uses equal real-speech/Gemini proportions and balanced English, German, French, Dutch and Spanish source examples. Candidate transcripts are checked with multilingual Parakeet ASR; WER above15%, invalid audio or truncation disqualifies a candidate.

Policy advantages normalize each component within its group; sampled KL and a gold SFT anchor (each0.02) regularize the update. Speaker similarity and VoiceCLAP are NOT reward terms in this run. Learned scores are useful proxies, not human listener ratings or proof of a quality improvement.
Final recorded progress: 1500 attempted groups; 1452 successful optimizer updates. Rejected groups remain logged. Checkpoint files retain adapter weights, AdamW, all rank RNG states, schedule and sampler position.
